PMO Community Event - Jan. 2009

Hosted by Central Procurement Directorate's (CPD) Centre of Excellence (CPD/CoE) for Delivery, the PMO Community got together to hear Sue Vowler from Project Angels. Sue was the Lead Author for the Office of Government Commerce's (OGC) new Portfolio, Programme, Project Office (P3O) guidance. Such was the impact of Sue's presentation that we decided to re-name the group as the P3O Community!

After an introduction from Des Armstrong the new NICS Head of Profession for Programme/Project Management (PPM) and director of CPD, attendees got an update from CPD/CoE on the state of play with PPM, Gateway and Learning and Development.  We also heard from colleagues in Translink on how they are moving forward with their own PPM agenda.  After Sue's presentation, we enjoyed a lively interactive group session were we discussed the issues and impacts of P3O on our respective organisations and Sue then answered a few difficult questions!

Paul Cooke (working in the Reform Delivery Unit in DID) closed the session with a brief introduction to the Association of Project Management (APM) of which Paul is local comittee member.

The next P3O Community event is planned for the early Autumn and is open to all staff who are involved in Portfolio/Programme/Project Office or in Programme/Project Management - we'll be in touch nearer the time with details.
