The Agency also administers the marriage laws and provides a system for the registration of births, marriages, civil partnerships, adoptions and deaths in Northern Ireland. To facilitate its work, NISRA has statistical staff posted in all the Northern Ireland Government Departments, Agencies and Non-Departmental Public Bodies. Census
Plans, undertakes and reports the decennial Census of Population.

General Register Office
The General Register Office is responsible for the administration of marriage and civil partnership law and the provision of a system for the civil registration of births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships, adoptions and gender recognition in Northern Ireland.
Certified copies of births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and adoptions registered in Northern Ireland may be obtained from the GRO.

Helps departments and agencies develop, implement and evaluate their HR strategies by providing them with a wide range of high quality, cost effective professional services. Regional Reporting and EU Programmes
Provides specialist support and advice to DFP European Division, Northern Ireland departments and the Special EU Programmes Body with regard to the negotiation, monitoring and evaluation of Programmes Supported by European Structural Funds.
Distributes and publishes cross cutting equality, social and economic statistics on the Northern Ireland region.
Ensures that the United Kingdom Regional Accounts contain reliable estimates of Gross Value Added (GVA), income and expenditure in Northern Ireland.
