Public Sector Energy Campaign
Background
Aim of the Public Sector Energy Campaign
The Public Sector Energy Campaign (PSEC) is an important part of the Department of Finance and Personnel’s (DFP) response to its responsibilities under the Energy Efficiency (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 that requires it to take such action as it thinks appropriate for the purpose of promoting the efficient use of energy by public bodies.
The aim of PSEC is to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions across the public sector in Northern Ireland through the analysis and publication of energy consumption and expenditure data.
PSEC collates and analyses data from the Northern Ireland Departments and the Northern Ireland Office (NIO), their associated bodies, agencies, boards, executives and trusts; including both the health and education estates as well as district councils and relevant Non Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs).
