Modernisation and Innovation Policy
The DID Modernisation & Innovation Policy team is responsible for the development of strategies and a range of IT-enabled reform and modernisation initiatives across the Northern Ireland Civil Service. It also offers guidance on related modernisation issues to the wider public service across Northern Ireland.
Activities to date have included work relating to the development of a multi-channel contact centre strategy (NIDirect), the implementation of the NI Executive's e-Government programme, as well as co-ordinating studies and policy development on current topics such as the recent flooding incidents, the NI Data Protection Review, the all-Ireland MakeITSecure public information campaign and the ongoing Digital Switchover process.
Future plans include: support for NIDirect through the development of a full channel strategy for the delivery of public services by NI Departments, Agencies and the wider public sector in NI; development of data sharing principles for public sector service organisations across NI and eParticipation for Northern Ireland citizens.
The team also offers internal support and advice on related Parliamentary Questions and Assembly Questions, acts as a central point of contact on all internal IT-related HR issues and interacts with Whitehall and the other Devolved Administrations on modernisation and innovation strategy. The team also organises events and bring international speakers to NI public sector audiences.
