Community Initiatives Funding
Separate from the Community Support Framework but operating in a complementary manner EU Structural Funds assistance in Northern Ireland for the period 2000-2006 included the following four Community Initiatives, all of which are now closed:
INTERREG IIIA
The main aim of the INTERREG IIIA Programme was to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the Community by promoting cross-border, transnational and inter-regional co-operation, with the intention to encourage the harmonious and balanced development and spatial planning of the European territory.

Notable high profile success stories include:

- The 123 House Makeover: Funding enabled the refurbishment of the 123 House community centre; and
- The Cancer Lifeline: Funding enabled the Cancer Lifeline project base to be refurbished and to allow the charity to continue to provide support to those in the community who are dealing with cancer.
