Robinson gives stamp of approval to celebrate 50 years of the Credit Union
The Finance Minister Rt. Hon Peter Robinson MP, MLA, today launched a Commemorative Stamp marking 50 years of the Credit Union in Northern Ireland.
Ronald Thompson, a long serving volunteer of Ballyhackamore Credit Union, put forward the concept of a commemorative stamp to recognise the anniversary.
Mr Robinson praised the work of the movement:
“This 50th anniversary commemorative stamp is a novel tribute to the work of Credit Unions, who have been an unwavering support mechanism for families and communities in Northern Ireland for many years.
“It is apt that we mark this milestone at Ballyhackamore Credit Union, who only last year recognised its own long-standing contribution to its community after 40 years of service.”
