Benefits Management
In this section detailed practical guidance is provided on benefits management for programme, project and business area managers. It is largely based on work carried out by colleagues in DARD Business Development Branch who have produced an intranet resource for their own practitioner community - we are very grateful for the substantial raw material they have given us access to.
This material reflects a growing emphasis on the need to actively manage the benefits of change, and is based on NICS good practice and guidance outlined by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) including their Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) framework.
The guidance provides detailed information on how to develop and manage the benefits of a programme/project. It also includes general background information on benefits management, links to some templates, completed examples and some suggested techniques/approaches. It is not a mandatory approach, or one that guarantees success, but is intended as a practical support tool to help programmes, projects and business areas identify and realise business benefits.
