Information Assurance

Information Assurance Unit (IAU)

The Information Assurance Unit (IAU) within Information Strategy and Innovation Division is based in Clare House consists of a small team providing guidance and assistance on a range of data protection, information assurance and IT-security issues for the NI Civil Service.

This work encompasses the development of related policy requirements and has also included the development of an online training package for staff and management and reporting of the recent NI Data Protection Reviews.

IAU provides support to the NICS Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) Forum, the NICS Accreditation Panel – where it advises and assists departments with various activities in preparation for accreditation – and represents NICS interests at the UK Accreditors’ Forum.  

The Unit liaises directly with CESG and Cabinet Office as necessary for specialist advice and consultancy.
