Beyond the office Zone

The zone provides a simulated environment that demonstrates potential work practices outside of the office, including use of remote communication and work tools, including Unified Communications such as PC web/video conferencing and integrated email and phone systems. This technology can be tried out so that you can simulate multi-location working in real time with team colleagues. future@work can provide a demonstration of some of the latest web-conferencing tools that help us keep in touch with the office and each other when working across locations.

Unified Communications pilots are taking place in some parts of the NICS. They provide ‘presence’ information (so you can see who is available) and instant messaging to enable you to communicate with colleagues more easily and quickly, as well as share and edit documents in real time.

future@work can demonstrate an example of one of the latest developments in web-based video conferencing.  It is a new portable, 360 degree video conferencing tool that provides a very effective and flexible application of this technology, which can be used in any meeting room or workspace. It includes voice-activated features to focus a sub-image on who is speaking, alongside the wider group of participants. future@work was the first place in Ireland and NICS to have this device.
