Budget 2010 – Departmental Pre-Consultation Paper

Budget 2010 is the process by which the expenditure plans for NI departments are set for the four years, 2011-12 to 2014-15.

The Department of Finance and Personnel has a key role in supporting the Finance Minister and the Executive in the development of these plans, and it is expected that the Executive’s Draft Budget will be published in October of this year, triggering the public consultation process before the Final Budget is set in December 2010.

As part of the Budget 2010 process, the department must also consider its own current expenditure proposals, capital investment plans and identify savings. The attached pre-consultation paper sets out the key expenditure areas which the department is currently considering in developing its expenditure proposals, and also contains information on the department’s approach to the identification of savings.
